Google will launch 3 new pixel devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in 2017.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 still happens to be the top-notch chipset for Android. Hence these 3 devices will come powered by this.
As opposed to earlier rumors, there was supposed to be 2 Pixel phones this year – Pixel 2 and XL. But now, there will be another new member added to the gang.
A device with the codename Muskie will be the next in line after the original Pixel. The Pixel XL that was supposed to be launched this year has been named Walleye.
Meanwhile, a third device is also in works. The word is, this device is a successor of Motorola Nexus 6. This device would be having a massive screen. Even bigger than Pixel XL!
Another rumor says, this year’s Pixel phones will also be manufactured by HTC.
Pixel 2 Rumors
The new Pixel 2 is expected to get a makeover. After the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, Google has to up the design. Even if they don’t match the infinite display, the new display should be better than the last year’s phones.
The screen of the device will sport flexible OLED display. Even though the screen in getting an upgrade, they will still support VR like the old handset. Another important feature that Pixel2 should have is the water resistant feature as all flagship phones have this feature.
In the RAM and storage front, the new Pixel is expected to have 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. It’s already known that the device would run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and run on Android 8.0 O out-of-the-box.
Since the phone will run on Android O, we can derive an interesting fact. The OS used in the phone has to be a stable version. Google I/O will be held on 17-19 May this year. So we will be seeing the new Pixel in 3rd quarter this year.
The upcoming Pixel’s camera will receive an upgrade from 12MP to 16MP. The camera would be a dual camera and have another 8MP shooter with it.
The 3.5mm jack slot is quite a controversial feature. Inside sources reveal that Google might it in the upcoming phone. But there is no official word about this, so we will keep it hanging in there.
As for the pricing, both the phones will be costlier than the previous phones. The cheaper variant is expected to be priced at $699 (~Rs.45,000) and the XL variant is expected to cost $829 (~Rs.53,200). I just hope the pricing this time won’t be as unfair as they were last time.
