No, it’s not Reliance Jio this time. Vodafone Red Shield is a new insurance cover that has been launched by Vodafone for new smartphones.
In this scheme, users will get an insurance scheme for users who buy a new smartphone. This is a free scheme, but of course, it comes with a price otherwise.
You have to be a Vodafone RED customer to avail this offer. If you don’t know what’s Vodafone RED, here is a rough idea for you. Vodafone RED is a special Vodafone offer that gives prepaid and postpaid users unlimited calling (local and STD). The minimum data it offers is 1GB, but it escalates with a higher price.
Coming back to the post, the minimum pricing of Vodafone RED plans are quite high. But now that you are getting an insurance for your phone, it won’t mind upgrading. On the other hand, Vodafone asks a price of Rs. 720 as a subscription fee to avail this offer. In other words, being a Vodafone RED customer will not ensure you the insurance.
Vodafone said, “While actual premium amount will be borne by Vodafone, the subscription fee has been maintained at a pocket-friendly price point so that maximum number of customers can avail the benefits of Vodafone Red Shield. The annual subscription of Rs. 720 will be debited to the customer’s monthly bill through12 equal installments (12 x Rs. 60). Vodafone Red Shield comes with a validity of one year. ”
The insurance will extend up to Rs. 50000, which is a good percentage even if it is a premium smartphone of any brand.
Vodafone Red Shield covers theft, beyond basic handset damage cover and also for complimentary insurance cover to handsets that have been purchased six months earlier. Interestingly, the offer can be claimed twice in any given year.
Vodafone Red Shield app is available at Play Store and App Store is already at your service. Once the app is downloaded, you have to text DSS to 199 and your phone will be checked for granting the insurance or not.
Besides the above-mentioned benefits, you are also entitled to other malware protection and other security features.
As for the insurance, it’s provided by New India Assurance Company Limited and the full thing is overall provided by Shortformats Digital Productions.
