BSNL launched its mobile wallet following the footsteps of other telcos (Ex. Airtel, Vodafone). BSNL has a massive users base of 100million users and it will be available to all the BSNL SIM users to make payments as well as transaction on different platforms.
Coming to the partnership, MobiKwik is developing the mobile wallet for BSNL. You can use it to pay phone bills, electricity bills, water bill, etc. It can also be used to make online shopping and do bus booking. Since BSNL is a state run organization, you can also book IRCTC tickets from this wallet.
Manoj Sinha, Telecom Mister said,”With this co-branded wallet, the ease of payment will be extended to all the customers while equally strengthening financial inclusion in the rural hinterlands, which often got neglected.”
Anupam Srivastava, Chairman of BSNL said,”Through this strategic partnership between BSNL and MobiKwik, we are taking another important milestone in achieving our PM Modi’s vision of enabling and making India a cash-less society based on his grand vision of digital India. We at BSNL are proud to be part of this program and will ensure that all our 100million BSNL customers will be able to seamlessly and conveniently transact and pay mobile and other financial payments through the co-branded MobiKwik wallet.”
He also said that this wallet will be compatible with both smartphones as well as feature phones.
Bipin Preet Singh, Founder and CEO of MobiKwik said,”It will empower masses in India with access to dependable internet connectivity and digital payments.”
There are a bunch of mobile wallets out there. BSNL will have to come with a really great wallet. However, since the mobile wallet will work on all feature phones as well, it will be a USP to grab a majority of Indians who were otherwise left out.
