The smartphone market has become very very competitive. It’s not like old days when Apple and Samsung ruled the premium phone section untouched. New brands are entering the market every month. The budget section has already been taken over by them.
These brands are slowly moving to premium section now. One of the companies which has been doing increasingly well in their premium phone section is LG. Both their V and G series are doing quite well. There are rumors that LG will launch LG G7 in the first week of January.
We mentioned in an earlier blog post that LG has started developing their firmware. However, this has been done 2 weeks prior to when Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ firmware development started.
This shows that Samsung Galaxy S9 could launch earlier than expected. Or not? What do you think?
With iPhone 8 and iPhone X in the news, can Samsung be far behind? Samsung Galaxy S9 firmware development has started. Two firmware is being developed G960FXXU0AQI5 and G965FXXU0AQI5. The Model Number for Galaxy S9 is SM-G960 and for Galaxy S9+ is SM-G9650 respectively.
Going back in the past, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ firmware started developing at the same time. Moreover, they had the similar model numbers i.e. SM-G950 and SM-G955.
Samsung is known to release all the key specs of their devices before launch. They leave behind just a couple of specs which they launch at their event.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are expected to go be launched in Q1 2018. However, LG is also planning on something. There is a rumour of LG G7 being launched in January. If this is true, Samsung really needs to plans things out accordingly. LG phones are doing quite well whether it be the G series or the V series.
There has been some change of plans from LG. The usual procedure they following is of launching the phone at MWC in February and eventually releasing the device later.
The company has been doing very well with LG V20 and LG G6 and now they are planning to challenge Samsung’s Galaxy S9 with this device. A company spokesperson said, “Nothing has been decided on the launch schedule of the upcoming phones”. As it appears, LG wants to keep everything undercovers now. But the cat is out of the bag!
I would love to hear about your views and takes on Samsung Galaxy S9. Please share them in the comments below.
