In order to increase the Google Allo app users and possible usage, Google have integrated an all new Message option right inside its Maps app. The feature was not seen before and as of now, seems to be working with a handpicked places only.
Google Maps Message option
The feature will help users to directly start a conversation with the business owners, bridging the communication gap further. Before this, the only option was to proceed with the phone call.
I checked the app with and without Google Allo. It uses the standard SMS/Text when Allow is not installed, sending the text to business owner about your interest.
On the other hand, you can have a better conversation with Allo. It’s pretty clear what Google trying to do here.
Hint – Offer users a helpful feature and smartly increase the number of Allo users, which is a pretty good messenger app, coupled with a smart assistant.
I did check other places like restaurants, private organizations, hospitals, etc., but the feature wasn’t live anywhere else. It was working for one place (Himagiri Hospitals, Hyderabad) as you can see in the screenshot itself.
Earlier, Maps was introduced two-wheeler support for the directions. An all new Plus codes have also been introduced which are unique addresses to a particular place. Plus codes can be copied and shared, allowing the possibility to share locations which are not having any landmarks or business marked.
The feature is available for both using Beta version of Google Maps app, and also the public one. I checked it on two devices, one working on Android 7.0 Nougat while another working on
What do you think about this new feature? Yay or Nay?
