It was the Apple who was supposed to bring in-display fingerprint sensor in iPhone X but it couldn’t complete the technical work on-time and have to ditch the fingerprint sensor completely from 2017’s flagship.
But, there is still hope that this feature will make its way in 2018. Samsung is said to be working on it, hopefully making it available with Galaxy S9. Apple might add the feature too in its 2018 lineup as not everyone is liking the face unlock technology.
In-Display Fingerprint Sensor
We have recently got a leaked video clip, showcasing the in-display fingerprint sensor. However, it’s not the Samsung or Apple. It’s a Vivo smartphone!
As you can see in the short clip, it’s a prototype but the in-display fingerprint scanner is working perfectly. Just like we all have imagined in past two years.
Synaptics is the first brand to fully master this technology and they are all set to bring first set of consumer ready smartphones with in-display fingerprint scanner. As you can see in the video itself, the scanner is really fast and instantly respond to the tap.
The engineers at Synaptics lab have configured the technology to work with bezelless screens, specially the Infinity Display which Samsung Galaxy S9 will be featuring.
I’m really excited to see this all coming to consumer smartphones and the feature is definitely going to be rock the list of smartphone innovations in 2018.
