Huawei confirms 9 smartphones that will receive EMUI 9.0

Huawei has announced officially 9 smartphones that will be receiving EMUI 8.0 update.

FYI, EMUI 8.0 is based on Android Oreo. Since the skin is from Huawei, you won’t be seeing stock Android. Huawei will make some changes in the skln. The smartphones that will receive this update are – Honor 7X, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9, Honor 9 Lite, Honor V9 and Honor V10.

Receiving EMUI 8.0 does not imply that these devices will get upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo. Some devices may or may not get a customised skin.

Features of Huawei EMUI 8.0:

  • AI: Huawei with monitor your behaviour with the new Kirin 970 chipset and EMUI 8.0 to make your device experience top-notch.
  • Advice: In order to make your Huawei smartphone usage experience smoother, advice will pop up to guide you through. As interesting as it sounds, it may be slightly annoying for those who know how to use a smartphone. Hopefully, there will be a setting to switch it off.
  • Navigation Buttons: Navigation buttons will go completely virtual and can be actually moved around on the screen. It does not have many advantages besides making the display look bigger and a really cool piece of tech to have in one’s daily driver.
  • Text translator: With the EMUI 8.0, you can easily convert texts from other languages to yours. In fact, a bunch of languages will be downloaded into your phone to avoid the trouble of going online to convert it.
  • Split Screen: Let’s not go into the unending advantages of having 2 screens run simultaneously on our smartphones. Having this feature rolled out officially will save a lot of devices’ warranty getting nulled my other alternatives for getting a split-screen.
  • Fonts: Smart color selection for fonts help bring out the important features on a phone screen. For instance, the time that is flashed on the lock screen will be unaffected of the background picture.
  • PC: With the EMUI 8.0 update, you can use your phone for PC usage. Just get a simple monitor and use your phone as a mouse pad or keyboard. Although this feature has already been there in the market (ex: Samsung DeX), it’s interesting to see how fast other manufacturers are picking it up!
