Sony Xperia XZs has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 49,900 in India.
This phone is an upgrade to last year’s Sony Xperia XZ, which was announced last year.
This post is mainly about Sony Xperia XZs Pros and Cons and a quick round-up of the features of this phone before concluding the article.
Sony Xperia XZs Pros and Cons
Sony Xperia XZs Pros
- Pre-order goodies
Every phone (whether premium or not) now comes with some awesome goodies on being pre-ordered. Sony Xperia XZs has a whole bunch of them.
Before going to the pre-ordering benefits, for the records, Xperia XZs is available for pre-order from April 4, 2017 to April 10, 2017.
On preordering, you will get an option of No Cost EMI from Rs. 5,555 per month. You can also avail exchange for your old phone up to Rs. 16,000. You are also entitled to Rs. 2,000 off on the actual MRP of the device. Buyers with Axis Bank Buzz Credit Cards get a special bank offer of 5% off.
I don’t know if it makes a difference to you, but a phone that is light is always a big plus point for me. It is also interesting to see how the phone has been managed to be kept light even with so much of specifications under the hood.
- Triluminos Display
To keep things simple, triluminos display helps you to view the screen from different angles or even under direct sunlight.
Triluminos display is exclusive to Sony smartphones and television.
- X-Reality Engine
Sony Xperia XZs comes with X-Reality Engine. This technology helps to make the images look better by making them sharper, reduce noise, improve contrast, etc.
If a premium phone does not come with the latest software on board, it’s a big blow. But not for Sony Xperia XZs. This phone comes with Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the box.
ZXs has 2 RAM variant – 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM. What’s interesting is that the lower RAM variant is not available at the e-commerce stores.
This removes the confusion in the minds of a buyer while selecting the phone. Extra RAM lets you use the phone features fully and run more than sufficient apps without a lag.
- Internal Storage
What’s point of having a handful of RAM if there isn’t sufficient storage? The 4 GB of RAM lets you install many apps from the Play Store. 64 GB of internal storage will give you enough space to keep them on the phone without the phone behaving abnormally.
- Powerful camera
The rear camera is a 19 MP Motion Eye Camera i.e. it can capture an image with great precision. Predictive capture lets you capture images whenever it senses motion.
5 axis image stabilization lets you capture proper images when in motion. It can capture great images in low light.
The front 13 MP Exmor RS camera helps you take wonderful selfies. Just like the rear camera, it can capture great selfies in low light.
Wide angled lens lets you take a nice selfie of your whole gang!
- 4K Recording
You can record anything around you in 4K resolution. Dual mic helps catch the audio is a much better way. DSEE HX and Digital Noise canceling technology help you to enjoy premium audio while watching the video.
- Qnova Adaptive Charging
Adaptive refers to any things that modify itself over time according to the inputs received. Here, Qnova Adaptive Charging helps make the battery adjust to your requirements.
The battery comes with Qnovo Adaptive charging and Quick Charge 3.0. I don’t think it should be legit to allow phones that come with a huge battery to come without Quick Charge.
Initially, it starts off well.
But at the end of a year, the absence of a Quick Charge comes to bite you when the battery takes forever to get charged.
- Headphones in the box
Just like the phone being light is a considerable criterion for me. Likewise, having headphones in the box is a big bonus.

Sony Xperia XZs Cons
- AMOLED screen
OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T is priced at the 1/3rd price and yet comes with AMOLED display. Moreover, if this phone comes wants to give a competition to Samsung’s Galaxy series, it should include an AMOLED screen in the future phones.
- Type C
Even though Type C type phones are increasing in the market, I rarely find it common in a bunch of friends. There are high chances that you will have to carry your charger with you everywhere you go.
This can easily lead to the breaking of the charger. If you want to buy genuine Sony made chargers, it will cost you a fortune in the long run.
- FM Radio
In a country like India, I see a lot of people relying on FM Radio as a mode of entertainment. Not having this feature is

- Fingerprint sensor
The fingerprint sensor is a making dependent feature, and it is not there for the Indian customers. Why would you want a phone that costs almost Rs. 50,000 with no fingerprint scanner?
The Qnovo Adaptive charging and Quick Charge 3.0 Technology are big bonuses. Only 2,900 mAh capacity is really disappointing.
