If you think this news for all of you, then you’re wrong! Rather, it’s news straight to the die-hard Windows Phone fanboys, who were waiting for a hardware specification bump for nearly two years. Finally, the all-new Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL smartphones are launched in India, carrying a price tag of 43,699 INR and 49,399 INR, respectively.
Now, after reading the price tag, I’m sure even the die-hard fans will think of dropping the idea of buying. Trust me, with all those features that are marketed for Windows Phone 10 mobile platform, and additional features like Continuum, the devices aren’t worthy.
One of the prime reason is the design shell. You can get a similar looking Microsoft manufactured smartphone in the affordable price section, and because these two phones still use polycarbonate build, it’s hard to call them any premium.
Microsoft launched these phones back in the first week of October, and after two weeks, Microsoft shipped dummy units of the phones into India. So, it’s quite a long gap before the device actually getting launch. Do you think the “Hype” is still continuing?
If you need a recap of the specifications, then the Microsoft 950 features 5.2inch display with ClearBlack technology and 2k resolution, and is powered by a Snapdragon 808 SoC carrying Hexa-core CPU with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The expandable storage option is available. LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC are all on board, along with USB Type-C port. A battery of 3,000mAh rating is shipped inside.
Coming at the 950 XL, the device features 5.7inch AMOLED displays its same ClearBlack technology, and is powered by Snapdragon 810 SoC with an octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and some ‘Liquid-Cooling’ set up to keep the processor cool during intense hours. All other connectivity features are common as of its siblings.
Both the devices carrying a 20MP lens on the back with CarlZeiss optics, PureView technology, 1/2.4” sensor size, 1.12µm pixel size, and an option to take dual shots. The front holds a 5MP selfie unit. OIS is also on board with giant flash to lighten up the dark moments.
You can read the full details and features of these two models at the official Microsoft webpage, to know everything in detail and straight from the officials.
Of course, the key feature in both these devices is the latest and company’s bad-ass Windows 10 OS. It packs features like Continuum which when used with a particular dock connector, can allow you to run the system as a Desktop, in full view. You can actually connect a display, keyboard and mouse to make it a fully functional desktop.
So, this is all about the device guys. Microsoft has planned to sell the devices through online and offline channels. Between, do you really think the price tag justifies the specifications and build quality?
